A new study published by a non-profit organization on Monday shows that a belt of heat will develop over the next 30 years, stretching from Louisiana north to Chicago. This belt could have 1 to 3 days each year with heat indexes (real feel in the summer) of 125 degrees.
July 2022 was the world’s sixth-hottest July on record, according to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. Last month also saw Earth’s sixth-hottest year to date on record as Antarctic sea ice coverage plunged to a record low for a second consecutive month.
